Video Poker Versus Regular Poker
Here we are providing you with
comparisons and similarities between the two types of poker
games. When not using a joker(s) , video poker uses the same
52 card deck as regular poker at a table. Most video poker
games deal the cards just like the table game of five card
draw. The hand ranks and the card combinations that make up
those hands are basically the same , but the similarity
really ends there.
- In video poker, the
house is banking the game, but the machine is not trying to
beat your hand. The video game is more like solitaire in
this aspect. Trying to bluff or read your opponent is
pointless because no other players are there.
- Playing table poker,
aces up or two pair is a much stronger than than sevens up.
In video poker, all two pair hands play the same.
- Playing table poker,
the difference between a straight flush and a royal flush is
slim. Except for rare cases in Texas Hold'em, where either
flush is almost guaranteed to be a winner every time. A
royal flush in video poker pays at the minimum of 16 times
as much as a straight flush would.
- You can't get a 'bad
beat' in video poker. For example, your flush can't lose to
that full house on the player sitting next to you has. It
will always win according to the payoff schedule of the
machine.
- Playing table poker,
if two or more players are holding a four-of-a-kind, the
highest ranking four-of-a-kind would win. You will find that
in some video poker games that four 2s, 3s, or even four 4s
will pays more than four 5s all that way through 4 kings
would. Though, you should keep in mind that there are
certain exceptions , like how the four twos would actually
rank in a deuces wild video poker game.
- You will also find
that some plays that are legal at a table game become very
costly ones at a video poker machine. See our Video Poker
Don'ts page for examples.
